Staunch Moderates Experience Syllabus

I’d like to introduce myself, Greg Simmons, CEO of the Staunch Moderates® Intellectual Movement founded in December of 2019.  Since our beginning of trademark registration and founding documents, we have campaigned the 2020 primaries, conventions, and debates with 35 vital societal issue forums and polls, hosted a panel Election Day show, have had over 149Million views and streams, dropped three Grammy-recognized multi-genre hip hop albums, produced a 2024 Oscar-considered feature documentary film entitled “Mission Peace,” and then some.

The reason that I write you today is to introduce you to The Staunch Moderates Experience; something we are hoping will become first an accredited, then a required, course at many educational and academic institutions within our country and perhaps abroad. We feel we could be a novel and useful tool or narrative for you/your institution to push forward to help with what you and society are currently dealing with in media and politics. We strive to bring people back together by setting differences aside and finding common middle ground, depolarize the divide, and affect the most equitable solutions.

Our goal is to retrain our brains and move the whole of our society away from the extremism, partisanship, vitriol, and unforgiving stances we are currently experiencing, many of which are negative by-products of (and amplified by) the advancement in technology and social media. While there are countless positives to the tech side of humanity, we feel the need to balance it with a more moderate, peaceful, and loving skillset.

Finally, another part of our vision is a debate section of our course where peers (the class) judge each contestant, not on who won point/counterpoint, but rather on how each student handles themselves by applying a moderate philosophy (i.e., how to disagree politely, respectfully, and even lovingly). We can all agree that society is currently failing at this. Each student will then write a report on what they have learned from all the above and how they feel about it. Our goal is to make this a required course in high school and college, and perhaps even grade school, again directing our students toward active listening and ultimately into a more moderate, peaceful mindset.
